About This Game

A tribe of brave warriors lies deep inside the Forest. Tabata, the Chieftain, is terribly sick and Raoni, the Wiseman, is taking care of him. A powerful Forest Spirit took over Tabata’s body and only an ancient ritual can undo the spell. Unfortunately, the most important ingredient is missing: a feather of a rare harpy named Uiruuetê. Aritana, against Raoni's decision, embarks in this dangerous mission. The sacred feather can only be found at the top of the highest mountain, through the lands of the man-eater Mapinguari.

Aritana is a platform game which the main aspect of its mechanics is the possibility of changing your stance. This stances define attributes such Speed, Jump Force, Attacks and Special Abilities. The player must choose between these stances to overcome obstacles and fight the Spirits of the Forest in a quick, intuitive and fun gameplay mechanic.

Aritana will learn new moves and abilities throughout the game and combo movements will help him fight the forest spirits. Meanwhile, Mapinguari will chase him constantly, forcing battles that require concentration and mastery of all skills learned.

With the help of the Shaman's Staff and the benefits of each stance, Aritana will be able to search for the Lost Artifacts and gain access to the Spirit World. This place is a labyrinth that holds pieces of medicinal leaves which, when collected in large quantity, can increase the player's maximum health.

The game follows the old platformer style and brings a high difficulty for those who are careless. Mastering different attacks and avoiding enviroment traps are key elements for the game.

 • Uncover the mysteries of a story inspired by the Brazilian Indigenous culture.
 • Upgrade the Shaman's Staff with new Attacks and Special Skills.
 • Create Combos to help overcome the most difficult obstacles.
 • Face the Mapinguari in several epic encounters that will test all your skills.
 • Run through different scenarios such as tropical forests, undeground caves and the Uiruuetê's Mountain.
 • Look for Lost Artifacts to access the labyrinths in the Spirit's World and increase your maximum health.
 • Master a new style of fast paced gameplay inspired by classic games.
 • Play with the keyboard or with your Xbox Controller.

A fast game, with no more than 4 hours of gameplay.
This game remind me some old school platform from ps1, so I really enjoyed it.
I've got a little bit confused about the story (who is the man they are trying to save? what's that boss?), and the items u find through game, but the visuals are really nice!
sometimes I had this feeling of flow, while using the right combination of atacks to get through some parts of the game, and that was really awesome!

I would say this is a 7/10 game. So, for 3-4h, its worth a try.. So I’ve played this game for two hours so far, I’ve progressed about 30% of the way through the game.I think it’s good.
- I found it really challenging, I died frequently but it was still fun
- I thought that the visuals and sound effects were really well done

From the very beginning of the game I was dying over and over again. It was like this for me during every single section. You character is only able to take a few hits, healing is not easily obtained and there is not a large amount of room for error i.e. to make jumps, neutralize and avoid hazards. You have to patiently time your maneuvers really well and in the boss battle which I encountered you only have a split second to react to everything it does. I went through a LOT of trial and error to progress through the game. I found this frustrating sometimes, but it was challenging and good fun.
-----I found that I needed time to get the hang of the stance mechanic. For example when you attack an enemy, you are switched automatically to the strength stance. But often I forgot to switch back to the green agility stance and would fall to my death because this meant that I could not make some jumps. Occasionally I sort of scratched my head and wondered why they felt it necessary to have this mechanic in some cases. But I don’t think it’s a bad thing overall, it’s just different. I did like being able to switch to a stance to run faster and jump higher.
-----You gain new abilities as you progress, by the time I finished playing I’d just acquired the ability to activate slow motion. I think that was kind of cool.

I think the game looks quite good. I like the sound effects. This game brought back fond memories of the old side scrolling Donkey Kong games.

I recommend checking this game out. At the rate I was progressing through it should provide five or six hours or so of gameplay. I feel that the time you can spend on this game is mainly because of the difficulty. Not because of the actual number and size of the levels. If it was easy I think the stages would actually be short. The way it is, is not necessarily a bad thing. I think it’s acceptable for a game is challenging rather having physically long levels. I’d rather play a game like that than something easy and unsatisfying.

here for my YouTube gaming channel. This game is amazing! It came within a bundle that I wanted to buy because of other titles but Aritana was a happy surprise to me.. In the later levels and in the end-boss fight you have to put your stick into the ground by pressing the "down" key - especially the end-boss fight cannot be finished without it.

Good graphics.
Good and precise gamemechanics.
Nice maps.
Good music.
Small good story.

Later levels are a bit more arbitrary if you don´t want to spend your time learning the patterns of the enemies you can use to go further in the game. Not that good.

Definitely worth a play.. Good game.

I've played and really enjoyed the gameplay.
U'll die a lot and the bosses are though, but the learning with mistakes is worthful.

The art is beatiful and the songs make u turn up the volume!

Congrats guys!. Achievement asked me: "Can't you swim"?

10/10 After reading the reviews I'll admit I was a bit underwhelmed tbh. Don't get me wrong, this is still a solid platformer that is fun and plays very well, however I didn't find anything particularly special about it. The story cutscenes really could have used some english narration or annotation as they lacked comprehension without imo. Very easy to finish.. lives are almost infinite thanks to the 'combo system' and boss fights are a complete pushover. Not highly memmorable.. but still good fun!. I don't think this is a bad game, I think the game is okay. Firstly I would like comment on the fact that the store page screenshots feel misleading. The screenshots use a bunch of angles that make the game seem like a 3d platformers when it is a 2.5D platformer with 3d maze bonus sections(no platforming.)

So I will get 2 minor gripes out of the way quickly which are that the first boss of the game felt unclear to me. Maybe I was just being dumb but I could not figure out how to make the boss vulnerable until I watched a youtube video of it. Also, throughout the levels there are hidden "combos" that reward you with bonuses based on the combos performed. The problem is that enemies are all very single directional making it impossible to perform a combo that you 'want' to perform rather than the combos that are conveniently designed. This also does not make sense since you have to find them instead of them just being available from the start so you could just recieve the bonuses from the sections designed in certain ways (In fact, one of the abilities you obtain is supposed to show you where collectibles near you are but I never could get it to work outside of the introduction to the ability.)

Regardless of this, a lot of the exploration aspect of the game feels cheap. In the beginning of the game you learn that some pits have secrets while others are death(ish) so it punishes you for trying to explore areas that it teaches you could be explorable. Otherwise, the levels are pretty straightforward ignoring the collectible exploration, follow the paths and once in a while go back to find a key or lever.

This straightforwardness applies to the gimmicks as well. The gimmick being that as you progress through the game, you use attacks to bounce extra jumps off enemies from different directions but this also means that the patterns are pretty set. If you fail a platforming section, there is no alternate way around it or real changes to the pattern, just repeat it until you get through. This changes once in the game which was my largest gripe in my playthrough which was the added wind effect to some stages which may ruin a platforming section if you chose to do a section at a comfortable time only for the wind to come along and end that attempt with no form of recovery. It was just plain annoying, did not add any challenge or fun to the game, just a frustration to deal with.

The controls themselves are pretty tight though, awkward at first on controller because it is not a standard platformer control scheme but it is because of how the extra bounces work and makes more sense as you play. The art style in the cutscenes are very nice, the music and sounds are fine, and it feels all polished. I wish I could give the game a sideways thumb for these reasons. Playing through it once was enough and despite usually enjoying looking for collectibles and trying to get everything in the game, it just doesn't make me want to play through it again which is why I leaned towards the thumbs down on this one.. This plataform game is not the most complex one, but is fun, very good looking and has an amazing soundtrack. And it's full of Brazilian culture. A must have game, And if you want, you can use an XBOX controller. Much better tham the K+M controls in my opinion
