A very good game! But you will need a decent computer to play it, if you are not a fan of this kind of thing you will get bored fast, also the controls take a long time to get used to but currently it's on sale so right now it is 100% worth it.. You can build walls. Doesnt work crashes on first level.. I bought this game because it looked amazing and upon playing. It was everything I expected out of it so what is stopping me from recomending this game you wonder? I physically cannot play it anymore. It started off perfectly played the game got a good 2 hours in and finished the first set of levels thats when the crashes started to begin upon loading each level. At this point I was fine with a couple crashes here and there it was still playable and still enjoyable. Upon starting the second set of levels it was running at below 10 fps on a gtx 960 and ryzen 1700 system it was possible but almost rendered unbearable. This was my breaking point when it crashed everytime I loaded any level and now cannot even open the game. I don't know if anyone else is having these issues but until it is stable on any hardware I cannot recomend it to anyone.. Attempting to start any level totally locks my PC, requiring a full reboot. It has taken a full year, but this has still not been fixed, refund requested.. Claydream =). This Game Is Just ing Amazing. Go Buy It Now.. OVERALL I *LOVE* the potential, it's a beautiful concept, but it's just not there yet in terms of fun. Open to trying it again later or if it was $5. PROS * I loved the digging trenches to move water around. * it has a beautiful engine CONS * I HATE the creepy child. I will pay you $20 to delete the child from the entire game. * The music is annoying, too distracting and doesn't really fit. * The rocket controls are too hard, didn't have fun in it and wish I could have switched back to a normal cube faster * Eating chocolates is what caused me to request a refund. No fun in that. Note to dev: Recommend cutting content and simplifying. What's the point of the game? To move around fast? To dig? To go back in time? To morph? It tried to hit me with all of these at once and they were only partially fun.. I personally enjoy this game, nice to relax on, cool concept and is fun to play for a short time. I personally havent had any crashes or issue with performance. I hope it gets updated with more levels, and more attention drawn to it to inspire more levels created by the community. I'm not the biggest fan of the rewind controls, leaving behind the shape every time can be annoying if you dont click clear.. This is a beautiful game. From the fingerprints on the clay to the amazing deformation and physics, it's gorgeous. It is many things: a physics toy, a platformer, a bizzare sculpting tool, and rather impressively it manages to nail all three. If you want a fun casual time playing a simple objective based game with a friendly light hearted atmosphere then I can't recommend this game enough. My only issue with it is that I don't think that $22.79 CAD is an appropriate price. I know that over time more levels will be added, both user made and official, but right now that price just seems a little steep. Stunning game, well bloody done to the devs.
Alpha 0.2.1.11 : I had some time today to play the game for a little longer and to test it. I found a few bugs and fixed them in the patch I just released (Alpha 0.2.1.11).. Devlog #2: A new Dev and Mushrooms : Hi everyone! Just a quick update on the development: First of all, we welcome a new designer on our team who creates textures, 3D models and animations. Also, I'm currently working on a new planet type, with mushroom biomes and things that glow in the dark, that I already mentioned in Devlog #1. I hope it will look as cool as I imagine it. The planet itself is almost finished, but it needs unique fauna (a lot of 3D models) and some quests. I added procedurally generated mushrooms to that planet, so every mushroom is different. For that, I used Bzier surfaces to generate caps that are uniquely shaped, in combination with some linear algebra to tilt the caps and stems. A lot of math actually, so if you've ever wondered what you need all that stuff you learned in school (and university) for, it's mushrooms. Yay! I think the new planet will be added as soon as there are enough NPCs and quests for it, I guess that will take about two weeks.. Devlog #3: Demo coming soon! : Hi everyone! I'm currently working on a demo that includes all features of the game, with only one limitation: You can play each character only for a limited amount of time. This way, you can play the game, test if it works on your PC and see if you like it before purchasing. If you decide to purchase it, you will keep your savegame from the demo.. Devlog #13: Villages & more : We have updated our website, which now has a news section (comments, forum, etc. coming soon). You can find our newest Devlog here: Devlog #13: Villages & more [www.beosar.com] -------------------------------------- We have had some problems with sending emails to Gmail users. Alpha 0.2.1.6 : Version Alpha 0.2.1.6 is now available.. Devlog #12: Looking back and ahead : Hi everyone! I thought the end of the year would be a good time to think about what happened in 2018 and to give you some info on what we plan to do with Cube Universe in 2019. Cube Universe is my first game, so I didn't have much experience back when I released it on Steam. In retrospect, I think it was a mistake to release it this early, but I don't regret it because I've learned a lot (especially in terms of marketing) that will be very helpful in the future. And your feedback helped a lot to improve the game. Thank you very much for trusting us and buying a game that is in Early Access. We appreciate your support and will use your money to improve Cube Universe. In 2019, Cube Universe will leave Steam for several reasons. See Devlog #11 for more info on this. You will get all updates through our launcher, the only thing that changes is that you will not be able to buy it on Steam anymore. We are working hard on adding features like flying with your space shuttle and villages with quests, so you will have a lot more to do in Cube Universe besides exploring, killing enemies, crafting, buildings, and doing the few quests that already exist. It will probably take at least 2 months to add those features. We are also working on improving our website because this is crucial for successful marketing. The trailer will be re-made entirely, showing the villages and quests. We plan on making a gameplay trailer for the entire game and a cinematic trailer for the quest update as this feature will be probably the main selling point. As soon as this is done, we can reach out to youtubers/streamers. There is a lot of technical achievement in the game, namely the smaller blocks, the high viewing distance, high mountains, a procedural universe, and the procedural quests. A lot of people think it is worth supporting it just because of that, but the game needs more (especially visuals) before we can do effective marketing, which is the reason why we have not reached out to youtubers/streamers yet.
